The bear was definitely a surprise when it showed up in outside our bedroom!

It made a huge mess on our deck by helping himself to the trash can full of corn that was meant for the goats!

All the animals we have had have blessed our life in uncountable ways. Our first pet we had was "Roxy" a beautiful, kind Rottweiler. We got her when we lived in Camp Lejeune and Jeff was in the Marine Corp. When we moved to Robbinsville, NC. Jeff surprised me with "Baby Goat." She thought she was a dog like Roxy and those two were inseparable!

Then Jeff bought me "Barnybus" from the Animal Shelter - our fantastic fat cat we had for 17 years! 2 years into our marriage, we moved back to Mountain City, TN. I quit my job teaching to pursue an art career and while we were struggling to make it- we moved into a very small trailer- but if we hadn't have lived there we would have never have known the Beagle Dog ! He is now our trademark image (click on the hyperlink to read his story)

Well, we made a go of it with our art and soon we bought land and was able to build our own home. Jeff built a wall sized aquarium in our living room! Since it was on top of a mountain, we have all kinds of wild animals visit on a daily basis-turkeys, deer, and even a bear but mainly raccoons every night. Then we got "Little Black Kitty" from the shelter to keep Barnybus company when we went to arts & craft shows. We then decided to purchase goats to help keep our mountain clear of brush and weeds (and poison ivy!)- the farmer said that he had 3 babies but they didn't want to leave their mommy-so we ended up with the whole family! Well, they grew, and ate, and grew, and ate...and ate...and ate....they ate the brush, weeds, trees and then started on our house! They must have been some kind of giant race of goat (they were actually Nubians) because they all four grew to the size of small ponies!

We have loved every one of of pets and the animals that come around and can only hope that the love of animals will bless everyone's heart.
